Our story started with too many storage crates of memories and clothes for our children.  Do we really keep all of these clothes that represent so many special memories FOREVER?  We slowly eliminated clothes and crates and felt like we were giving away memories at the same time.  Those clothes represented love, laughter, babies firsts, sleep time, water play, grandparents, family outings and so much more.

Those clothes sparked the idea of creating a rag quilt where each square represented a story.  My first quilt was made of the remaining baby/toddler clothes I had kept from my then 3 year old son.  As I spread out his shirts, jammies, overalls, bibs, blankies and jeans I reminisced over each piece thinking about him, and going back in time to that very moment when he wore those clothes.  

As scary as it was, I began to cut pieces of these memories, my memories.  My hope was that we would snuggle with this blanket, I could tell him stories, I could share my love for him and that these memories of his baby/toddlerhood would become his memories.

I enjoy capturing special memories in scrapbooks, journals, and even small books that tell about the day each of my children were born.  I created Little Dbo as another way to record history and tell my children the stories of their lives.  I feel blessed to be my kids Mommy!   My daughter tells me her favorite blanket is the Little Dbo blanket I made for her that captures her first 18 years of life.  I love to hear my 4 year old son, Reeve, talk about things he did when, “he was little”.  He loves to look at pictures of himself and listen to stories of his life.  My little 2 year old, Denver, is already enjoying looking at his pictures and soon  will want to hear his “life stories”. Isn’t that what a large part of living life is?  Celebrating our memories and creating new ones along the way.
